Shock. Grief. Anger. Guilt. But mostly the disorienting hypocrisy of our outsized contribution to the climate emergency coupled with our desire for things to get better.
These are the just some of the emotions that have pushed me to read, read, read about climate justice and the path ahead in this critical decade.
I’m Jeni, a time-starved mum grappling with the contemporary dilemma of recognising the need for action in a world wrought with eco-social crisis but lacking a blueprint for where to start. Moral Footprint is where I’ll be taking what I’ve learnt along my climate and social justice journey, demystifying the tangled connections between our personal lifestyles and collective eco-social change.
It’s a newsletter exploring our impact on world around us—going beyond our carbon footprint to a more expansive ‘moral’ footprint, where we consciously consider other humans, all beings and the environment.
Moral Footprint won’t offer you a “1-2-3” approach to moving from eco-guilt to perfectly conscious living, but I promise to be as pragmatic as possible about the ways we can align our daily lives with our ethical values of wanting to minimize harm and build a more just world.
In the first few issues I’ll be writing about modern parenthood, ethical business, the eco-social movement degrowth and the roles we can all play in the climate justice movement.
